South Sudanese artist Chamdena Level blends traditional Dinka sounds with modern production on “Angum,” an upbeat and playful track celebrating a woman’s figure. Sung in Dinka, the song is driven by a repetitive and catchy chorus that makes it easy to sing along to, even if you don’t understand the language.

The lyrics playfully celebrate a woman’s behind, with “Angum” roughly carrying that meaning in English. Some of the expressions don’t translate naturally word-for-word, but the message is clear: Chamdena Level is admiring the women and encouraging them to show off what they’ve got.

The music video brings that idea to life through traditional dancing, with the women elegantly showcasing movements that complement the song’s subject. Rather than a modern club-style dance, the visual puts traditional dance at the centre while presenting it with polished, contemporary production.

Fellow South Sudanese artist Amac Don also makes an appearance, alongside Nelly Big Boy and Twic Mayardit Stars’ Mariak Two Reasons and Ayuel Mamess. The comedians add humour throughout the visual, appearing as a band in one scene, while another sees Mariak Two Reasons getting comically outmatched in a fight with a woman.
