Biography
Faze10 is a South Sudanese-American rapper and artist from Des Moines, Iowa, whose music moves between hip-hop, Afropop and R&B while drawing from both his hometown and South Sudanese identity.
Born and raised in Des Moines, Faze10, whose credited name is Gore Puot, began building attention within Iowa’s emerging hip-hop scene in the early 2020s. His catalogue began taking shape in 2023 before expanding significantly the following year with two full-length projects, Everybody Can Win and Gratitude.
His music frequently reflects the city that raised him. Songs including “East Village” and “KCCI,” along with references to local institutions such as The Isiserettes, place Des Moines firmly within Faze10’s musical world. He has also worked alongside artists from the city’s growing hip-hop scene, including GnarlyJevy, CeeRob, FNO Peso and Qxeezy.
At the same time, Faze10’s South Sudanese identity has become increasingly visible in his work. His 2025 single “Jin3 Thin” paired his melodic approach with African influences and a music video prominently featuring the South Sudanese flag. South Sudanese references continued across his 2025 album Mr. Ring a Bell, while his 2026 single “Sudani” brought that connection directly into the title of his music.
Released in September 2025, Mr. Ring a Bell marked Faze10’s largest project to date, spanning 19 tracks and bringing together the different sides of his sound — energetic contemporary rap, melody, R&B and African influences.
Alongside performing and songwriting, Faze10 has production credits on a number of his own releases, including “Jin3 Thin” and tracks from Mr. Ring a Bell.
Rather than separating where he comes from from where he was raised, Faze10’s catalogue increasingly brings the two together: a distinctly Des Moines rap identity alongside a growing musical connection to South Sudan and the wider African diaspora.
