Biography
John Frog (born Aguek Michael Mahok Maming, January 1, 1993) is a South Sudanese Afrobeat and hip hop artist from Turalei, Warrap State. Born to parents who served in the Sudan People's Liberation Army, he was a child soldier before completing his secondary education in Juba and turning to music full-time.
He broke through in 2018 with "Guondo Sakit," a Juba Arabic phrase meaning "a common person," which became a regional hit and was later remixed with Tanzanian star Harmonize. He has since collaborated with artists across East and West Africa, including Iyanya, Jay Willz, Eddy Kenzo, Bahati, and Jose Chameleone, and was voted among South Sudan’s top 10 artists by Eye Radio in 2023.
